Dry Skin Skincare Tips:
1. Only Cleanse In The Night
This is such a simple tip but can truly change the state of your skin. Washing your skin twice a day can strip your skin, especially if it’s on the dryer side.
That’s why only washing your skin in the night to get rid of the day’s debris can help retain some moisture in your skin. In the morning, your skin has produced moisture over the night. In order to retain that moisture, only wash your face with water!
2. Use A Cream Cleanser
When you do cleanse your skin in the night, be sure to choose a cleanser that actually gets the job done. For dry skin, I recommend a cream cleanser with really nourishing ingredients that’ll replenish your skin’s natural moisture.
My personal favorite cleanser for not just dry skin types but all skin types is the Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser. It has soothing and hydrating ingredients like oat to calm and moisturize your skin. This cleanser is perfect for dry skin because it cleanses the skin without stripping it of its natural moisture.

3. Use A Cleansing Balm To Remove Makeup
It can be hard to wear makeup and have dry skin because makeup does have a tendency to grab onto dry patches. However, removing the makeup can be even more detrimental to your skin if done improperly.
That’s why I recommend a gentle cleansing balm to remove your makeup and hydrate your skin at the same time. Specifically this oat cleansing balm from The Inkey List. As you can tell I love oat as a ingredient in skincare products (seriously so non-irritating and hydrating)! This balm is amazing for removing makeup and trust me, if you have dry skin, this balm is for you.
Start gently removing your makeup:
4. Use Clean & Non-Irritating Products
Regardless of whether you have dry skin or not, clean and non-irritating products are the way to go. Now, the market is opening up to where clean skincare is more accessible financially.
Using gentle, clean products will help to soothe your dry skin (plus it’s better for your epidermal health overall)!!!
5. Invest In A Nourishing Moisturizer
If you have dry skin, investing in a good moisturizer is one of the best steps you could take to care for your skin. I recommend a thicker cream with ingredients like niacinamide and ceramides to restore your skin’s barrier.
This moisturizing cream by CeraVe is affordable, hydrating, and will nourish your dry skin!
Give your skin the love it deserves:
6. Moisturize Multiple Times Throughout The Day
This is a simple tip that could actually help your skin! This tip could also be helpful if you live in a cold environment and need a refresh.
If you want to moisturize multiple times throughout the day and you’re wearing makeup, I recommend a moisturizing spray that’ll go over your makeup. This spray by Evian is hydrating (plus I really love the misting technology)!
Give your skin a refresh throughout the day:
7. Have A Set Routine
Regardless of your skin type, you need to have a set skincare routine. It doesn’t matter if you, on a whim, use the best skincare products in the world: if you aren’t consistent, your products won’t work. Consistency is the key to good skin…it’s that consistency which will help you achieve your skin goals!
8. Use Face/Eye Masks For Extra Moisture
Once in a while, due to external aggressors like the environment, our skin can get a little dry. If you’re in need of some self-care and want to give your skin some extra moisture, this mask is for you. Found at Sephora, this mask is renowned for the scientific approach it takes to skin hydration.
This Cryo Rubber mask doesn’t just hydrate but also smooths and improves your skin’s texture, making it perfect for some self-care!
Give your skin some extra TLC:
9. Don’t Aggressively Rub Your Skin With Your Towel
This is probably the simplest tip I could give you but trust me, it works. Dry skin (as you know) can get aggravated pretty easily, so be sure to be gentle with your skin.
When drying your skin, instead of rubbing and tugging at it, gently pat your skin dry so you don’t irritate your skin!
10. Don’t Pick At Your Skin
I’ll say this to people who have acne and I’ll say this to you who has dry skin: don’t pick your skin!!! Whether it’s pimples or dry patches, picking at your skin will only make the situation worse, possibly leading to more dry patches appearing.
Instead of picking at your skin, try to add extra moisture to your dry patches. I know it’s hard but try not to focus on your skin to that level: it can cause an unhealthy obsession (trust me, I know).
11. Use Silk Pillowcases
And my last tip is definitely not a deal breaker but is an extra bonus to those who want to take extra care of their skin (and even hair)!
Regular cotton pillowcases can irritate your skin, so sleeping on a silk pillowcase can help soothe your skin at night!
Take care of your skin even when you sleep:
