Are you confused about the order you need to apply your skincare products? This is the order you need to apply your skincare products of.
Skincare is based on science, and the efficacy of your products can be affected by the order you apply them in. However, it can be super confusing to decide what order you need to apply your products in, and that’s why I created this post.
In this blog post, I share the best order to apply your skincare products in so they work to maximum efficiency. After this post, you’ll be ready to rearrange the order of skincare products in your routine!

Order Of Skincare Products:
The general rule of thumb when applying skincare products is to apply them based on how thick they are. You want to apply your thickest skincare products first, then work your way down until the thinnest skincare product. However, there is a general order which you apply your skincare products in!
For example, this is a sample routine which includes all the steps to show the order of products:
Night time skincare routine:
- makeup remover
- cleanser
- exfoliant
- serum
- moisturizer
- eye cream
- spot treatment
Morning time skincare routine:
- cleanser
- serum
- moisturizer
- eye cream
Depending on the steps you have in your skincare routine, you can modify this to your desire! Now, to give you guys a little something more, I’m going to share some of my favorite skincare products from the list above 🙂
P.S. if you want to see all my favorite health, beauty, and lifestyle product recommendations, check them out here 🙂
1. The Inkey List Makeup Remover
This makeup remover is amazing at getting every single ounce of product off your face without stripping your skin. Oat is one of my favorite skincare ingredients for its soothing qualities, and this is one of the only affordable makeup removers out there which is actually efficient without being harsh on your skin!
2. Aveeno Oat Cleanser
Like I said above, oat is one of my favorite skincare ingredients, so I thought I’d recommend an amazing cleanser for people with all skin types. I have combo-oily skin, yet I still use this cleanser because it helps to soothe my inflammation.
Honestly, no matter what skin type you have, cream/soothing cleansers like this one are better for your skin (plus, this is super affordable)!
3. Paula’s Choice Exfoliant
Exfoliating your skin is so important and is an essential step in your skincare routine. This viral exfoliant by Paula’s Choice is actually worth the hype: formulated with BHA, it helps smooth out your skin texture and correct your skin tone.
I’ve been using this product for a couple of weeks now, and I already see a major decrease in the appearance of my acne scars!
4. Neutrogena Moisturizer
If you live in a humid or hot environment, have oily skin, or are acne-prone, this moisturizer is for you. This is a hydrogel (meaning that it is mainly water-based), so it won’t smother your skin.
However, it still provides ample hydration! Plus, this is the most affordable yet good-quality hydrogel on the market 🙂
5. Clearasil Acne Patches
And last but definitely not least are these pimple patches by Clearasil. There are dime a dozen pimple patches offered by various different companies: however, you do not need to waste money on expensive sets.
Offered for under 15 dollars at Target, these patches help to heal pimples and decrease the size of whiteheads overnight!
