Dear reader,
Happy New Year! I know I’m quite late to this as I’m writing this on January 25th, but hey better late than never…
Anywaysss, how are you guys doing?! It’s been forever since I last wrote a blog post. But I promise I have a good reason for not writing for so long…I started college! I’m finally pursuing my pre-med dreams, and I couldn’t be more excited 🙂
It’s been a couple years since I did a New Year’s post (4 to be exact), and so much has changed since that last post. I read it over again and marveled at how much I’ve changed but also how much I’ve stayed the same. This blog has definitely seen my good days, bad days, and everything else in between, but I wouldn’t change that for anything. I know no one is going to read this post, but I’m almost just writing it for myself so I can hopefully look at it again at the end of 2025 and be proud of everything I accomplished this year!
Before we get into the 2025 goals and my best tips for goal-setting, I first want to reflect a little bit on 2024. It was definitely a milestone year: I graduated high school and started college! I also started posting on social media for The Anagha Edit! I’ve always wanted to do video content, and I’m glad I got the courage to start 🙂
There were so many high moments, and I’m so grateful for all the memories I made with my family and friends! But there were also some difficult moments that taught me a lot about myself and the reality of life. 2024 was the year that inspired me to try and make 2025 the best year of my life, and I really hope I can make it happen!
Now, it’s time for 2025. This year, I really want to continue building upon the self-growth I’ve worked on for years and truly make this year one to remember. I want to look back at 2025 with absolutely no regrets and be happy with the way I lived my life. There’s a quote my biology professor last semester shared in class (random, I know) that really stuck with me, and I decided to make it my saying for 2025: “Give your best effort, because you are worth your best effort”. It really resonated because I think I’m finally realizing the pain of failure is never easy, but the pain of regret is even worse.
I fear that got a little deeper than I intended, so back to the goals lol!! I have four categories this year that I want to focus on: academics, wellness, The Anagha Edit, and Personal. For example, I want to utilize student hours whenever I need to this year and try to shadow some doctors to learn more about the different specialties! In addition, I really want to stop biting my nails and always keep them painted and also workout 3 times a week. When it comes to The Anagha Edit, I want to upload 1 blog post a week along with 2 reels on Instagram. Lastly, some personal goals I have are to read 15 books this year and really reconnect with my culture and faith.
It may seem like a lot, but I genuinely believe it can happen! So far, the goals have been getting achieved I think save for some blips here and there, but we are all human and have our days!
Now that I got my specific goals out of the way, here are some goal-setting tips I’ve learned from some successful and unsuccessful goals in the past (looking at you 2021)…
First of all, really pinpoint what it is you want to achieve in the year. Not what you think you should be striving for and not what other people want for you. What YOU want for your life and how you want it to look. This is a way to ensure that you genuinely care about your goals, and you will put in the effort to attain them! Plus, life is too short to not try and live it authentically as you can <3
Next, I really like having the idea of broad goal categories as umbrellas to place your goals underneath. Having a category system organizes your goals and makes them seem more attainable. Pick 2-4 overarching themes that you want to work on this year and develop 3-5 actionable goals you can strive to achieve under each one this year! It may seem like a lot at first, so take it slow and make it as tailored to you as possible!
Setting goals can be easy but actually attaining them is another story. If you’re anything like me, you’ve set sometimes unrealistic goals which you end up not attaining, therefore making you feel bad about yourself. Speaking from personal experience, it’s better off for your mental health if you actually set goals that you can reach. But, trust me, this is not me telling you to not dream big or reach for the stars. You should absolutely do so because I know you can achieve whatever you set your mind to!
Before I send you guys off to go achieve all the things you could ever desire, here are some final thoughts. First off, if the previous year didn’t exactly go the way you wanted it to, that’s totally okay. I’m so proud of you for making it to this point, and I know 2025 will be your year. Second of all, I know social media makes it seem like when the new year comes around, you have to change everything about yourself, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Take some time to recognize all the good you possess and truly appreciate it! Without some self-love, the journey of self-improvement is a lot harder than it needs to be. Finally, I hope your year is everything you want it to be and more. While I know the first month of the year is almost over, it’s never too late to decide to change your life. That’s what I decided to do almost 4 and a half years ago when I started The Anagha Edit, and it was the best decision I could’ve made for myself! I’m manifesting that you and I both overcome all our fears and unabashedly go after what we want in this life because we deserve it. That feels like a perfect place to stop, so I’ll leave you with that. I love you, and I’ll see you in the next post!
Love,
Anagha
