If you want to learn about the perfect skincare product order, this post is for you!
Back when I first entered the skincare world, I was so confused on how and in what order to apply all my skincare products. In a way, I’m writing this blog post also for the younger me who had no idea what she was doing lol 😉
In this post, I’m sharing the correct order to apply your skincare products in. Skincare product order can be a tricky thing to master, but after a bunch of trial and error, I’ve found the perfect lineup to apply your products so you can maximize their efficiency!
A quick lil’ PSA for this post: you don’t have to use every single step in this post for it to apply to you! Take whatever steps you want because the order still applies (the general rule of thumb when applying skincare products is go from thinnest consistency to thickest consistency)!

The Perfect Skincare Product Order:
1. Makeup Remover
If you’re wearing makeup or even sunscreen outdoors, I recommend your first step in your skincare routine being a good makeup remover to fully remove all the grime and product from the day!
2. Cleanser
I love a good double-cleanse system, so the next step I’d do is a good cleanser that fully cleanses your face! For some people, this can be their first step in their skincare routine.
3. Face Mask
While this step is optional, who doesn’t love a good face mask moment? I recommend doing a mask you love that targets one of your skin’s concerns at least 2-3 times a week for it to actually make a difference for your skin!
4. Toner
After rinsing off your face mask (or cleansing your face), I’d go in with an exfoliating and/or clarifying toner to help balance and prep your skin!
5. Serum
This is one of the most important steps in a skincare routine, especially if you have a skin concern you want to target. After applying toner, I’d immediately follow it with a good serum (this is a perfect night-time step so it has a lot of time to absorb into your skin)!
6. Eye Cream
If you struggle with your under-eye area and want a special product to help, this step is for you. I recommend applying eye cream before moisturizer!
7. Moisturizer
This is another superrrr important skincare step that I think everyone needs to have, regardless of their skin type. This is an AM/PM step, so I recommend taking some time to find the perfect moisturizer for your skin type!
8. Sunscreen
With the state of our climate and more harmful UV rays starting to make their way to our skin, sunscreen is important now more than ever. In the morning, always be sure to apply sunscreen!
For proper sun protection, I recommend a good-quality physical/mineral sunscreen.
9. Spot Treatment
This is more a PM step, but if you struggle with acne or hyperpigmentation, keep reading. I personally use a spot treatment in the night to help fade my acne scars and it works wonders!
10. Lip Balm
Last but definitely not least, lip balm! Your lips are a part of your skin (a more sensitive part at that), so be sure to take care of them and reapply lip balm throughout the day if you need it!
